What to expect from a pet taxi service

Paris to London pet travel route overview & timings

Most Paris to London pet taxi journeys run as a single travel day. The usual road route is Paris to Calais for the Channel crossing, then onward into London by motorway.

Paris to the Calais terminal

Once we’ve picked you up, the journey with your pet takes around 3 hours 30 minutes in normal conditions.

Terminal pet check-in

Your driver will aim to arrive with time to check in without rushing. Our guidance is to check your pet in at least 1 hour and no more than 2 hours before your booked departure.

Crossing via Eurotunnel

Crossing from France to the UK will pass faster than you think, taking around 35 minutes from rolling on to disembarking.

Channel Crossing to London

You are your pet will travel in comfort for the final leg of your journey to your door. Folkestone to London takes approximately 1.5 – 2 hours by road.

Comfort stops are built in. If you have a hard deadline in London, tell us early so we can plan for delays around the crossing and the London approach.

Approved crossings and why we usually choose Eurotunnel

The Eurotunnel Le Shuttle route from Calais (Coquelles) to Folkestone (Cheriton) is listed by the UK government as an approved rail route for bringing pets into Great Britain. That approved-routes list is published under the Animal and Plant Health Agency and DEFRA.

Ferry routes such as Calais to Dover are also listed as approved and can be a fallback if the tunnel is disrupted.

If you are travelling beyond London, we’ll be more than happy to accommodate moving your pet door to door.

Paris to London Pet Transport Reviews

We used this pet taxi when moving from Hong Kong to the UK with our dog, travelling from Paris to the UK, and the service was excellent.

Everything was smooth, professional, and very reassuring. Communication was clear and reliable. It gave us real peace of mind during such a big move.

We would happily recommend this service to anyone relocating with pets. Thank you for taking such good care of our dog 🐾

Noir Chung – January 2026

We were traveling on 4th of November from Paris to London and it was absolute pleasure from the start. The customer service was great. Myra explained absolutely everything to us and was extremely nice and helpful.

Besides being incredibly professional and driving us so safely, our driver Pino was also a wonderful company and the ride flew by unnoticed.

Our dog felt safe and happy during the trip. I would like to recommend this company to everyone who looks for a safe journey with their fur baby!

Alina Lozovska – November 2025

I am traveling with my pet corgi from Shanghai to UK. I engaged Pet Moves Abroad for the transportation from CDG to Folkestone.
Mira from Pet Moves Abroad has given me tremendous help, with booking pet taxi, the tunnel fee, and all kind notes of vet paperwork. Kawa is our driver, who I can’t thank enough. He arrived early at CDG like 5am in the morning and picked us timely. He also helped with the vet paperwork process at the checking point at French border.
I don’t think me and my dog can make it to the trip without Mira and Kawa’s help. So thankful and appreciated!

Lei Liu – December 2025

Had a very pleasant experience using Pet Moves Abroad.

Mira thoroughly explained the process with me and kept me updated on logistics as we got closer to the moving date.

On the day, my driver, Kevin, was pleasant and our conversation made the time go by quickly. My cats were both really comfortable on the journey, which meant I was less stressed as well.

If I have to ever move between the UK and Europe again, I’d immediately reach out to Mira and her team for it. Thanks again for getting us to our new home!

CDG & ORLY AIRPORT PICKUPS

Collecting Your Pet from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY)

Charles de Gaulle is one of the busiest airports in Europe, and arriving there with a pet, luggage and the weight of an international relocation on your shoulders can feel like a lot to manage at once. That is exactly why CDG to London pet taxi pickups are one of our most-booked services, and one of the things we have genuinely got down to a fine art.

We arrange your collection directly from your arrival terminal at CDG. Once you have cleared customs and collected your bags, your Pet Moves Abroad driver will be waiting to help you get your pet and luggage loaded without any of the usual airport stress. No trying to flag down a taxi while holding a cat carrier and three suitcases. No confusing public transport with animals in tow. Just a friendly face, a comfortable vehicle and a clear plan from the moment you land.

How a CDG pet taxi pickup works

When you book, we plan the meeting point around your specific terminal and your flight arrival time. We build in extra time for customs, baggage reclaim and the inevitable delays that come with international travel, so there is no pressure to rush. From CDG, most journeys head directly to Calais via the A1 and A26. From there it is the Eurotunnel crossing into Folkestone and onwards to your final destination in the UK.

The total journey time from Charles de Gaulle to central London is typically around five to six hours, depending on traffic, tunnel schedules and where in the UK you are heading.

What happens at the border

For dogs, the French border vet check for tapeworm treatment takes place at the Eurotunnel terminal in Calais, not at CDG itself. Your driver knows exactly
where to go and will guide you through every step. It is a straightforward process and one our team does regularly.

One of our customers, Lei Liu, summed it up perfectly: her driver “helped with the vet paperwork process at the checking point at French border. I don’t think me and my dog can make it to the trip without Mira and Kawa’s help.”

Flying into Orly Airport (ORY) with your pet?

Absolutely. Orly pickups work exactly the same way. We plan your collection from your arrival terminal at ORY, join the same route to Calais, and take the Eurotunnel through to the UK. Just include your terminal and arrival time when you fill in the quote form and we will handle everything from there.

Whether you are landing at CDG with a dog after relocating from Hong Kong, stepping off a flight at Orly with a cat after years in Shanghai, or just finishing a holiday and heading home, Pet Moves Abroad has done this journey hundreds of times. You are in safe hands from the moment you land.

Yes. Airport pickups from Charles de Gaulle are common for Paris to London pet transport, and Orly pickups can also be arranged. We plan the meeting point around your terminal and luggage so you are not trying to manage crates in a crowded arrivals area.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle from Calais to Folkestone is listed as an approved rail route for bringing pets into Great Britain. Ferry routes such as Calais to Dover are also listed as approved. We normally plan Eurotunnel because the crossing is short, but we can use a ferry if needed.

Plan it as a full travel day. The core components are the drive from Paris to Calais, terminal pet check-in, a 35 minute crossing, then the drive into London. Traffic and the exact pickup and delivery postcodes change the final timing.

At minimum: microchip, rabies vaccination with enough time since the first jab, an accepted pet travel document for Great Britain, the dog tapeworm treatment within the correct window, and entry via an approved route and operator.

At minimum: microchip, rabies vaccination with enough time since the first jab, an accepted pet travel document for Great Britain, and entry via an approved route and operator. Tapeworm treatment is not required for cats.

At dedicated Pet Reception facilities at the Calais and Folkestone terminals. You stay with your pet at all times. Eurotunnel states these are 24/7 and that both terminals include pet exercise areas. Your Pet Moves Abroad driver will be there with you through the process.

Yes. Pet Moves Abroad is set up for pet and owner transfers. The majority of our pet taxi transfers are complete with the pet and owner together in comfort in the vehicle. We do offer the ability to transfer just the pet in some circumstances, just ask!

Bring a secure carrier or harness, water, cleaning wipes, and your pet’s normal blanket or towel for those home comforts in your pet taxi. Keep meals light before departure. If your pet gets travel anxious, speak to your vet early and plan ahead.
