What to expect from a pet taxi service

Paris to London pet travel route overview & timings

Most Paris to London pet taxi journeys run as a single travel day. The usual road route is Paris to Calais for the Channel crossing, then onward into London by motorway.

Paris to the Calais terminal

Once we’ve picked you up, the journey with your pet takes around 3 hours 30 minutes in normal conditions.

Terminal pet check-in

Your driver will aim to arrive with time to check in without rushing. Our guidance is to check your pet in at least 1 hour and no more than 2 hours before your booked departure.

Crossing via Eurotunnel

Crossing from France to the UK will pass faster than you think, taking around 35 minutes from rolling on to disembarking.

Channel Crossing to London

You are your pet will travel in comfort for the final leg of your journey to your door. Folkestone to London takes approximately 1.5 – 2 hours by road.

Comfort stops are built in. If you have a hard deadline in London, tell us early so we can plan for delays around the crossing and the London approach.

Approved crossings and why we usually choose Eurotunnel

The Eurotunnel Le Shuttle route from Calais (Coquelles) to Folkestone (Cheriton) is listed by the UK government as an approved rail route for bringing pets into Great Britain. That approved-routes list is published under the Animal and Plant Health Agency and DEFRA.

Ferry routes such as Calais to Dover are also listed as approved and can be a fallback if the tunnel is disrupted.

If you are travelling beyond London, we’ll be more than happy to accommodate moving your pet door to door.

Charles de Gaulle is one of the busiest airports in Europe, and arriving there with a pet, luggage and the weight of an international relocation on your shoulders can feel like a lot to manage at once. We arrange your collection directly from your arrival terminal at CDG. How a CDG pet taxi pickup works

When you book, we plan the meeting point around your specific terminal and your flight arrival time. We build in extra time for customs, baggage reclaim and the inevitable delays that come with international travel, so there is no pressure to rush. From CDG, most journeys head directly to Calais via the A1 and A26. From there it is the Eurotunnel crossing into Folkestone and onwards to your final destination in the UK.

The total journey time from Charles de Gaulle to central London is typically around five to six hours, depending on traffic, tunnel schedules and where in the UK you are heading.

What happens at the border

For dogs, the French border vet check for tapeworm treatment takes place at the Eurotunnel terminal in Calais, not at CDG itself. Your driver knows exactly

Yes. Airport pickups from Charles de Gaulle are common for Paris to London pet transport, and Orly pickups can also be arranged. We plan the meeting point around your terminal and luggage so you are not trying to manage crates in a crowded arrivals area.

Yes. Pet Moves Abroad is set up for pet and owner transfers. The majority of our pet taxi transfers are complete with the pet and owner together in comfort in the vehicle. We do offer the ability to transfer just the pet in some circumstances, just ask!

Bring a secure carrier or harness, water, cleaning wipes, and your pet’s normal blanket or towel for those home comforts in your pet taxi. Keep meals light before departure. If your pet gets travel anxious, speak to your vet early and plan ahead.

How Do I Book?

Once you’re happy with our quote and have all the details of your trip confirmed (flight number, arrival time and date and airport, pick up time and city/town in Europe/UK, how many pets and passengers and luggage) we will send you our booking email with the Eurotunnel payment link attached. As soon as we receive your payment, we will book the Eurotunnel and secure your booking with us.

How Can I Pay?

You can pay by any card via our 3D secure payment links or by a bank transfer. We take the Eurotunnel deposit payment first and the rest of the fare can be paid up to 2-3 days prior to your journey.

Can I Reschedule?

Yes we don’t charge for rescheduling and will even offer a full refund if you can’t travel at all.
